2008 Dance Initiation of Mayari
2008
This was my initiation into Bharathanatyam (a classical Indian art form) at the age of two and a half. My mother is teaching my brother and I, our very first steps and a small invocation song to Saraswati (Goddess of learning and knowledge).
2010
I have been learning dance as soon as I could walk. It is a cultural practice that has been passed down by generations in my family. I am very blessed to be able to learn and continue to pass it on to future generations. This was one of my very first public performances at our local town Diwali celebration!

2012 Performance at IAL Diwali
2012
Another performance at the local town Diwali celebration. I loved to be able to dance with my friends while still learning our culture together. Dance has cultivated lifelong friendships for me and has strengthened our bond through performing and watching many recitals together.
2015
TriNethra is a festival my mother founded in 2015 that gives a platform to both local and international dancers to be able to perform and get paid for their art. I was able to dance at the inauguration of this festival and be a part of it in subsequent years where I volunteered or was part of the musical ensemble. This is a glimpse into one of our many rehearsals for this festival.

Dheem Show 2020: Thillana
2020
I performed this piece at Boston University's Dheem Show at the Tsai Performance Center. I did a Thillana which is a dance done at the end of a big recital. It is a very upbeat song with high-energy movements to celebrate the ending of a performance. I learned this choreography from a famed dancer in India (Rama Vaidyanathan).
2022
This is a recital with my high school dance team RASA that I founded in 2022 and currently am the captain of. I wanted to create a space to perform classical Indian dance at various events like senior homes, school events, and more. This is a clip from our performance that we jointly choreographed at our school's Diwali event.

BSD - Thillana from LHS Asian Night
2022
I performed with fellow dance graduates at my high school during the Asian Night talent show. We performed a rechoreographed Thillana that was taught to us by Rama Vaidyanathan. This was a great way to share our culture with our own student body and have them appreciate South Indian culture.

A Dance Graduation
This was my big graduating dance recital that I performed during COVID. It was about two and a half hours of non-stop solo dancing which took a lot of effort, stamina and memory. I was happy to be able to present all my years of training in front of my family and friends. My mother was a big part of this event and this brought me a full circle to when I started learning with her as a young child. I have included two videos, on the left is a snippet of one dance, on the right is the full-length live stream of the recital.
